Upper Lachlan Shire Waste Valuable Resources
Here's another one of those Council 'you've gotta be joking' scenarios! According to Council's "Private Use of Motor Vehicle Policy for $55 a week, under 'Agreement B, STAFF - FULL PRIVATE USE (Paragraph 7) Drivers of Vehicle 7.1 "The vehicle may be driven for private use by": (b) "The Lessee's spouse or partner" and (Paragraph 9) Provision of Fuel 9.1 "The employee is responsible for the cost of fuel supplied to the vehicle outside of the Shire when not on Council business.
Now lets put that in plain English - apparently it is not against Council Policy (but is it morally acceptable?) for a Council employee's partner/spouse to drive a Council car 1km to the corner shop and back to buy 1 litre of milk and Council will pay for the fuel! The motor wouldn't even get warm (don't laugh - I've seen someone do it!!).
Now contrast that to the fact that their are pensioners (two of whom drive 60kms (30km each way) into Crookwell in their own vehicles and pay for their own fuel to do voluntary work for charities!
I'll let you be the judge of who is doing a moral justification.

Staff think they have a 'right' to waste your (ratepayers) money - while other ratepayers go without basic road maintenance and drive along something called a dirt 'road' Where do I send my bills for flat tyres, suspension parts and worn out shock absorbers, to the man who drives the flash car in Council??
