Stupid, Stupid Council
A few months ago I had a visit from Energy Australia. They were concerned about some trees outside my business in Salisbury Rd, Newtown. The energy asked if he could explain why they needed to remove 4 trees (only 2 affected me) and wanted my thoughts on it.
The guy took me to the trees and explained that the trees were rotten and decayed where the branches came from the main trunk. After hearing what he said I had no problems with it after all even I could see the problem when it was pointed out. They then said they would also speak to the Council as well.
Two months later I saw another bloke looking at them, this time it was a Council tree inspector and he said "I agree that decay there is not good, these need to go, its a safety issue." Weeks later the trees were removed.
Now my reason for writing this is as follows - Again, a few weeks later we had 2 of our useless Councillors turn up with the local paper doing a 'shock, horror' story on the ernergy company removing these perfectly healthy trees. They made the mistake of talking to me and I said "you're wrong, these trees were pointed out to me to be dangerous, I saw the problems with them". I also asked them when they had inspected them to disagree with the tree experts and what the Counciloors qualifications were.
I was told that they never inspected them and they know a healthy stump when they see one. The story made out that the energy company had removed healthy trees when Councils own tree expert agreed that they were dangerous.
Now normally I dont care about stuff like this but these two councillors deliberatley lied to the papers and have gotten away with it. How can you possibly trust these two. They will not be getting my vote next time, liers !.

Marrickville council are RUBBISH.
They do not listen to any problems.
They do not reply to emails or letters EVER.
I sympathise as I have had to deal with them on many occasions in the past. It took 4 years and stacks of calls to get a stump removed from the front of our house and they still have not planted a replacement.

MARRICKVILLE COUNCIL ARE THE WORST, NO DOUBT.
If you endure the costly wait on mobile to actually get through my experience has always been that the person taking the complaint doesn't want to know about it. They're really rude and there's allways ZERO follow up. They won't even give you contact numbers for service employees.
Hey you even get put on hold for 5mins ringing at 6am. Happened to me two days ago.
I tried to register a complaint about a local vegetable processing business and all their rotting matter overflowing from industrial bins and outdoor rat infested preparation area. I was told that unless I leave my name & a contact number rangers couldn't verify my complaint. WHAT???
All they need to do is go and take a look and act accordingly. How on earth does contacting me (which they never bother to do anyway!) VERIFY the situation. I made the report, they have to verify it!! Geees!
So bacically it ended up she told me they wouldn't investigate without my "privates" :-)
And they didn't. It's still filthy there. I initially contacted EPA or whoever it was because I knew council would do nothing, but they shunted me back to council which is when the above occured.
This is just one example, there are plenty more.
NOT TO MENTION THE ROADS -- WORST OF ALL IN NSW I RECON.
No replacement - I thought this GREEN Council. Without a doubt, the most useless councillors in any Sydney Council.
What exactly do they do.
An interesting topic, The greenies are gutless. I notice that they are a registered Council of this website.
How come they have not made a response to this post yet. Maybe they are out test driving the new toyota prius (luxury model of course).
WHERE ARE YOU MARRICKVILLE COUNCIL, LETS HERE YOUR VERSION OF THIS EVENT !
To all the residents of Marrickville Council - Are you aware that curretly (and for the last 12 months or so) that Marrickville Councils Tree Section have been operating with no one qualified to inspect trees. That means if you have put in an application to prune or remove trees on your property, your trees have been assessed by someone who doesnt know a thing about trees. Sp if you were refused, Id be very careful .I also know that it is there policy to refuse absolutely every application. This is a very dangerous act and they can certainly be held accountable if someone dies from a refused tree being removed.
They also have unqualified people making the same decisions for public trees. The community is in danger of trees that could fail as they have not been inspected by anyone with any qualifications in the arboricultural industry at all.
If you dont believe me check your "refused" applications, if the inspector was "Michael", you are being conned. Michael is on secondment from the lawn mowing section cause they cant get anyone with qualifications to work for this totally useless council.
