One hundred birds in Pannerong Reserve, Rose Bay

There is an unsustainable and destructive population of both magpies and pigeons in Pannerong Reserve. The pavement, trees and benches surrounding the reserve are covered in bird droppings (there is a reason why we call pigeons the rats of the sky). Weekly, various birds are run over by cars passing by the roads around the reserve.

Can the Council please put up signs such as 'Do not Feed the Birds' or, if that fails, enact penalties? The area surrounding the Reserve is a mess, not to mention the fear of the flock of magpies watching your every move. Do we need someone to lose an eye before something is done? The Reserve is much too small to accommodate such a large population of birds.

There is currently a sign in Rose Bay advertising the use of the Reserve on the 28th March 2010 for meeting the neighbourhood. How are they supposed to meet in a reserve where everywhere you step is a bird dropping? Where everywhere you stand involves the high risk of being defecated on? Would you let your children play in such a reserve? The reserve is a cesspool and we need something to be done about the birds immediately.
