Not Happy - Rates Increase in The Hills Shire Council

Enclosed with our latest rate notice was a letter informing us our rates will increase by $1836 bringing the total to $3116 and asking us to send a message to the Premier telling her we are not happy. However, I have a message for the idiot Mayor and the other 11 stupid councillors. Our household income has reduced two years in a row so paying the $1200 is difficult enough so if we did have another $1800 we wouldn't be giving it to the council. Do what we have had to do and live within your means. Give up your grandious ideas and get back to fixing pot holes, footpaths and collecting the garbage because after all that is what you were elected for.

Or here is a novel idea, let the user pay!

In more than a quarter of a centuary we have never used the sporting fields and never will, we have never used the library and never will, we have never used the cycle ways and never will and we don't have footpaths in our street so all we seem to have is a very expensive garbage collection. Why should we subsidise the people who do use all of these facilities? If I were to send a message to the Premier it would be to suggest she get rid of incompetent councillors and pompus Mayors who squander the rates on self edification and who certainly do not make me happy!!!! Take a reality check and get real. You are not empire buliders, you are merely local government and your responsibility is dog control and garbage collection.

Lets get back to basics.
