Medcraft and Cavanagh 'Copout!'

I've been following for the last month a request in the Letters section of the Wentworth Courier requesting Paddington Councillors tell the readers what they've been doing since being elected.

And was disappointed to see no mention in the Letters section this week - but saw on Page 16 that the 'Whisper' had followed up and contacted them both for a response.

Cavanagh and Medcraft basically refuse to respond and think this Mulholland man is the only one wanting to know! I for one would like to know also, I'm sure I'm not alone - if Cr Jarnason can respond, why not these two??????

Are you saying they do nothing?

As someone who voted for one of them, I would certainly hope they are not doing NOTHING! Are you saying they are doing something? Do tell... I'll pass it onto the Whisper ...

I saw the advertisement in the Wentworth Courier re the Ashington Development. It was placed by Council.
Sure that is a possibilty. Its a possibility that all buildings remain empty, and full of rats, like the Cinema and the litter becomes so bad that it would look like a Rubbish tip.People would come to scavenge on the tip.
Woollahra Counciland the Mayor has the power to do something about this but does little, it should not need a gripe site to get action.

I see Cr Boskovitz is giving it to some of his fellow councillors again in this weeks WentCourier Letters section re Rubbish in the neighbourhood ... we could surmise from Cr Boskovitz's comments that his fellow councillors may indeed do NOTHING??? (read Cavanagh and Medcraft)...

I can't speak for Cr Medcraft but I know that my fellow Liberal Cr Cavanagh is working hard for his constituency.

My letter was directed at anyone in particular just trying to push the need to concentrate on our core essential services like keeping our area clean and tidy.

Please don'tread that Peter is not not doing anything because that is not correct. He is a keen local who has spent many years living in Paddington and wants to see it prosper and obviously be the best place it can be.

Cheers

Anthony

Read the article Thanks.
If this is the case then we need a public meeting with councillors.
How do we organise this?
And can we make sure that the councillors who dont think this is important attend.

Re above response from Anthony: Seems as though Cr Boskovitz is donning the typical council 'on the defensive hat' admirably sticking up for his Liberal colleague - classic Woollahra Council thinking - it's similar to that of council (i.e. Woollahra Council) working on the complaint system - it's only when rate payers complain about something that Council will actually do anything about it! (Though even then they turn a blind eye i.e. collapsed road recently in Bellevue Hill) The word PROACTIVE is unheard of in its chambers.

All the writer (I've binned my copy of the WentCourier & I forget his name) is asking for, in the weeks that I've been following it anyway, is an activity report. Cr Jaranson replied but the other 2 have not - the writer has never said that they do NOTHING. It is just a request to the councillors that they detail to the public what they have done since being elected. Maybe Boskovitz can defend his colleague again and explain why he (Cavanagh) cannot reply to a constituents request as Cr Jaranason did????

Good news for Gripers.State government are slashing the funding to councils. This will result in increase in rates, in turn people will ask a few questions of councillors.Unfortunately most councils do not work like businesses.Rather than looking at trimming the fat, getting rid of dead wood, and becoming more efficient, they will probably as usual do little. There are a lot of people out there, clever retired people, looking to make a few extra dollars these days, we could make use of them.
