Kitchen Window Blocked by Council Approved DA
A recent development approved by walcha Council means that because they have approved a double brick wall being built obn a common boundary the only way that the neighbour can clean the outside of her window is to crawl headfirst (or feetfirst) over the kitchen sink through the kitchen window and into a 90 cm. crypt bounded by a brick wall left by the developer to enable some light to enter the room.
This is progress Walcha Council style.

Was there an objection to the developement by the owner of the kitchen window? When ddi this actually occur, is the "resdintial" house on land which had been rezoned to commercial. Walcha with all the space up there it is hard to understand why things need to be shoulder to shoulder.
Yes there were objections to this development by the owner of the kitchen window.
The house is village zoning and is in the process of being zoned commercial (It has not come into effect yet).
The council passed the development over 2month ago and the building is occurring now.
I certainly agree with your last point - they don't.
The history of this development is very unusual.
Two years ago the developer dumped a portable coolroom on the land and turned it on producing noise well above acceptable limits.
After complaints to council they did ask him to turn it off and to put in a development application. He did turn it off and he did put in the application. The Walcha Health and Building Inspector tested the noise and found it was acceptable (said so to Council in his report) so Council passed the development. (and the noise has been continuing ever since
Since then independent testing has shown that the noise is excessive (and Council has agreed with these independent reports) and issued him with a noise abatement notice. To avoid complying with this noise abatement order he put in this development - which is currently proceeding. the noise is still being produced - councils attitude is he is trying to solve the problem so we have to give him time.
There is also plenty of room on the block to put the building elsewhere.
what can one do about the fact that the Mayor and Councillors of Walch Council have ordered the General Manager of Walcha Council to lie (ie not tell the truth) in a letter to a rate-payer when they know what they are saying is false.
