How to action the removal of a teenage/alcohol hangout in residential area
Hi, this is a question really. I live overlooking the waverley St / Hollywood avenue intersection in Bondi Junction. At the foot of the Oscars building complex there is a set of bolted seats and tables visually secluded from site of roads and footpaths as well as not being lit at night. The only use I ever notice of this area is as a hangout for anti-social behaviour. Binge drinking (so it seems), yelling, making a general racket.
I would like to know what steps can be taken to remove these tables and chairs. God only knows how the Oscars residence facing this are put up with it. How do I find out who administers the Oscars building? (I assume the chairs/tables are part of the Oscars complex).

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, the area you are referring to is considered a park and under the care of Council. If you would like to make a complaint regarding antisocial behaviour please call the Police and also lodge it with our Customer Service Centre on 9369 8000 so the relevant officer can look into this and raise it with our Safety Committee.

Well, I don't know whether my original post brought about the action that is happening this minute - or whether it was coincidence - but I'm impressed. Council workers are cutting the low branches off the trees surrounding the park in question and the hedge is about to be lowered. Just spoke to the workers. Said it was a police request so they can see what is going on. Maybe we also need some indestructable lighting in there as well. Or a sprinkler system (I'm happy to house the switch) which can be turned on in the event of an alcohol fuelled racket!!
Seriously, I think the teenagers will be pee'd off and this might make a difference.
Thanks.
Is the leadership of Waverley Council willing to give some advice to the leadership of Canterbury City Council on how they are to provide the service they are required to provide ratepayers and the community that Waverley Council seems to be able to perform based on the many responses and actions posted on this site.
Councillor Betts, we need people like you at Canterbury Council rather than the Councillors that we have providing us with comments such as this:
"You have had issues, and I know others have had issues with the Council and its Officers, and in the future there will be other residents who have issue with Council. Council cannot always get things a hundred percent right and cannot satisfy every resident’s every need or want."
This is a response from a Canterbury City Council Councillor to issues relating to Council placing priorities on ratepayers funding Council worker retirement parties rather than issues on the safety of the public.
Hello I have a question regarding noise and general inconsiderate behaviour by neigbours teenagers and their many friends.....A garage at the back of a Macpherson st residence is being used by teenagers as a social club. This garage is actually accessed on Chesterfield lane and is becoming a meeting place for noisey kids with cars and alcohol (not a good combination!) plus damage, graffiti, urinating etc. Several Complaints to the police have proved fruitless. It was suggested to me this week (by the police) that the Council would be able to issue a noise abatement notice. Is this possible? How do I go about arranging this?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Lisa.
