Gen "old people"

The oldies love to have a go at the youth of today Graffiti, Loud etc etc.
Well you oldies, walking your dogs need to take a long look at yourself.I train in the Park and often seen oldies looking the other way whilst their dog does a dump.Nice one oldies. They pretend not to see it ..what a joke If you want to have a go at us, get your own house in order.

What can council do?

I think there should only be off lease areas in high activity zones where people can see the dogs dumping, its all to easy to look the other way and expect someone else to pick the crap up.Do you oldies know that Dog Crap is very dangerous the worms etc that live in the dogs stomach can cause brain damage. Shame on you.all you need to do is, if you want a dog be aware you must pick up.its not the dogs fault.

Can council please do something about this.Double Bay Park needs a patrol for about 2 hours each morning 6 until 8.00am is the worst. But the oldies love going out around 5.00pm too.

PS a few were on the No High rise March.

cant be just old people.or are these "olds" between 40 and 70 then I would agree because they are the only ones walking the dogs.

Woollahra Council won't do anything - too many dog owner votes on the line!

Hello

Firstly I must acknowledge that most dog owners are in fact very responsible when it comes to picking up after their dog. however there are some people who are less responsible.

In order to fix this problem i am going to put up a motion at the next council that a bin or some sort of device be placed in the park which

1) provides some sort of bags for people to use to collect dog droppings
2) allows for this bag to be deposited in a safe and hygenic way

This bin ( for all intensive purposes is a bin) will be cleared every day with new bags added everyday.

I am not sure if this is feasible but it is worth checking.

Afterall if the Council is willing to spend $600,000 on bush regeneration then we should be able to spend a few grand on some bins for dog owners.

In the meantime i will also bring this up with our rangers and ask them to monitor the situation more closely

Regards

Anthony Boskovitz

I put up the following notice of motion for the next council meeting

Boskovitz

That a report be brought to the appropriate committee outlining the feasibility of placing ‘dog
dropping’ bins in all our major dog parks which

1) Allow dog owners to throw away their dog droppings easily
2) Provides bags for dog owners to use to collect their dog’s droppings

The report should also outline

a) The feasibility of collecting this waste everyday or provide an appropriate solution to collecting
this waste

b) The possibility of selling advertising on the bags we provide to dog owners to pick up their
droppings which would serve to offset the cost of installing the bins and any other work involved
in the administration of this service

Cheers

Anthony

If only people were a little more thoughtful.
I would say it IS the youth who litter.

I agree we do blame our kids and gen y for everything.
I am a baby Boomer and I do see the older people walking their dogs alot, so it comes down to us oldies to pick up.
Bins and bags are great but its the people that are responsible, a bag doesnt fill itself.

Its great to have you on this site Anthony, maybe when you run for Mayor we will all remember your commitment.
Can we have a shame gallery dogs pooing and then a picture with the owners.

Thanks Ben

At this point however i have no intention to be the mayor. I think i can contribute in other ways, such as on this site and by writing editorials or writing my blog. The Wentworth Courier were kind enough to publish one of my editorials today. Its on Page 32.

If you want to make it public that if people don't want to post on here (for whatever reason) then they can contact me personally on 0414829953 or at a_bosko@tpg.com.au. I am always happy to try to help. No guarantees but 100% effort.

Cheers

Anthony

Cr's Cavanagh and Medcraft take note - this is what your Paddington Community wants, someone who at least responds to their constituents ... yes like Cr Boskovitz. He seems to be putting in 100% effort to at least respond to issues ... I refer to that letter in the WC this week 'A Memo to Paddo Counillors' ...if Cr Jarnason can respond, why can't Cavanagh and Medcraft tell us what they've been doing for their community for the last 6 or so months ...if they can't maybe the Mayor should ...

Heres a solution to the problem of Dog droppings.
Have a patrol like a parking officer.Find the owner of the culprit dog.
Have a law passed that states anyone who allows their dogs to dump in public areas be subject to community service.....Picking up dog droppings around the areas..
It will be a world first.
Its a bit like Graffiti, people caught have to clean up so why not the owners of the dogs.No seeing is no excuse if they have a dog and take it out for a walk....to crap everywhere lets face it thats why they walk the dogs, then they must have responsibility and accountability..Come on Woolahra Council be a leader not a talker.A simple solution to a nasty problem.

Now that makes sense.
