Confiscation by Council of Public Paking at Bondi Junction

Waverley Council has confiscated nearly all the short-term public 2-hour "free" commuter parking (across the street from the bus/rail interchange and local shopping, under the Grafton Street by-pass at the corners of Grafton, Newland and Vernon Streets ( see for yourselves the high, wire fenced-off area already preventing entry ).

What community consultation? None?

For what purpose? A Council "mini-depot" !! (Note the motherhood spin in the term "mini-"!)

Surely the Council can find a better site for a Council depot, away from the busiest, most central commuter and shopping precinct in the entire municipality. Much-needed parking outside the shopping-prisoner confines of Westfield, for the hard-pressed small traders of nearby Oxford Street, as well as short-term commuters of the adjoining bus/rail interchange, has been available on this site for many years. Now, filched from public use.

All the land under Syd Einfield Drive is owned by the RTA. The RTA for commercial reasons advertised to lease out all the space under the bypass including those off Adelaide and Grosvenor Streets.

Because Council is wanting to improve the cleaning and maintenance around Bondi Junction it is imperative that we find space for a small depot to house our cleaning and mowing equipment.

This small area seemed to be the best and we therefore negotiated a lease from the RTA.

By housing our equipment in the Bondi Junction area we will be able to commence our cleaning earlier in the mornings rather than having to bring our equipment from Zetland each day.
