Blacktown Council Not Mowing the Grass!
I am getting sick and tired of Blacktown Council not maintainig our reserves and open space areas, most areas have not been done since october last year or are just done when the contractor can, why award a contract to a contractor that clearly can not manage the contract, Not only do our parks look ugly but they make the council look like fools for awarding the contract to a useless contractor, I guess we are also fools for paying our rates.
I am afraid of my kids playing in any park because if I let them go they might get lost in the grass, not only that the risk of a snake bite or being cut by broken glass, this is clearly a breach in safety by the council and if anything was to happen they would be liable for it.
Blacktown Council, do something about it ! we can not take this any longer ! You would think , being such a large council you would know how to run things properly

It has come to this time of the year again and our parks are still not being mowed, spoke to one of the council staff and they stated this contractor will be around for another 7 years, great news a contractor that clearly can not manage any type of maintenance on our parks, yet still getting paid for it, its like winning the LOTTO and all at rate payers pocket, great job Blacktown city council
Who do we speak to for a more permanent solution? I spoke to council about a month ago, they sent someone the next day but more of a rushed job when cutting the grass. What more do you expect? This is council. Couldnt manage a piss up in a brewery!
Blacktown council class open area sites as A category and B category. My park next door classed as B category meaning it gets mowed every 4 weeks during summer. At the two week mark it is always time for another mow - at the 4 week mark it is knee height during summer - council's open space manager glenn told me that every 4 weeks is an adequate service - yet i have seen snakes because of councils inability to maintain an adequate lawn mowing service in the area. This is not only an OH&S issue but serious safety concerns when there are holes in those areas that cannot be navigated when the grass is to long to see these trip hazards.
I was also told they have limited resources - to maintain such a large council area and the cost involved - yet Blacktown councils limited resources somehow extends to staff councilors going overseas on lavish trips and their $60,000 drunken xmas parties.
We will be taking thus further to the CTTT and the local member for Blacktown.
Shame on you Blacktown Council....
